Commuter Meal Plan Credit Program

August 14, 2020

Liberty University has an exciting announcement about financial credits for students who had commuter meal plans in the 2020 spring semester and either were graduated or are returning.

Liberty University and our food service provider Sodexo have come together to support a special program for all commuter meal plan students who are returning from the spring 2020 term as well as those who graduated in the spring or summer of 2020.  Even though all commuter meal plans are non-refundable, Sodexo and the University have agreed to provide an adjustment credit for those returning and graduated commuter students who had meal plans in the 2020 spring semester that were not fully used.

Here is the commuter meal plan credit program:  All commuter students from the 2020 spring semester that had a Commuter Block Plan with unused swipes will get credit for those unused swipes added to any commuter block plan that they purchase for the 2020 fall semester.  So, for example, if you had 30 unused swipes on your block plan at the end of the spring semester and you purchase a 30 swipe block plan for the fall 2020 semester, it will be automatically increased to a 60 swipe block plan for you at no additional charge.  If you are a commuter student that had a Freedom or Freedom Plus plan in the 2020 spring semester and you purchase another Freedom or Freedom Plus plan in the 2020 fall semester, you will receive a cash credit on your Liberty University account based on your unused swipes from the spring 2020 semester. Once you select a commuter meal plan for the 2020 fall semester, your account will be reviewed and adjusted in accordance with this program.  If you are a commuter student from the 2020 spring semester who has since graduated and are not returning to the university, you will receive a cash credit on your Liberty University account for your unused meal plan based on the type of plan you purchased in spring 2020 and your daily usage of that plan.

Liberty University is very excited that this credit can be provided to our commuter students returning this fall and to our graduated commuter students who had meal plans in the 2020 spring semester.  While certain returning and graduated residence hall students are eligible for a previously announced credit, we are now pleased arrangements were made with Sodexo and Liberty University so this program for commuters can also be announced.  This adjustment credit is also in addition to any other awards and grants for which commuter students are eligible to receive.
