The annual Liberty Craft Fair Surpasses 2015!
The 2016 Liberty Craft Fair was an incredible event of seeing the Lynchburg and surrounding communities come together to help support feeding the homeless. This year we were able to raise over $4700, double from last year, which ALL went to benefitting the Lynchburg Daily Bread. It was truly incredible to see all the vendors and patrons from town come together for a day of shopping local, investing dollars into this community, and getting into the holiday spirit by donating to assist those less fortunate this holiday season. We would like to thank everyone who attended this year and we simply cannot wait for 2017! Head over to our Facebook event page to see all the pictures!
Students Take Field Trips to Tour Reber-Thomas Dining Hall
On April 28th, 4-year olds from Liberty Christian Academy toured the Reber-Thomas Dining Hall! Students on the field trip got the opportunity to interact with chefs, liberty students, and other staff all while learning how a college dining hall operates. Also, apart of their field trip, they received a behind-the-scenes tour of the kitchen and got the opportunity to create their very own healthy parfaits!
On May 5th, students from Campbell County Technical Center also had the opportunity to tour our dining facility and have to chance to see up close the output that a college dining hall performs every day. CCTC offers programs that focus on culinary arts, so this was a great chance for these students to learn from chefs and other dining hall employees about food, management, kitchen prep and innovation.
Celebrating Earth Day!
On April 22nd, Liberty Dining Services hosted the VIP (Very Important Planet) event for Earth Day in the Reber-Thomas Dining Hall. Students who attended the event learned about food waste, sustainability efforts, recycling, and food hunger in our local community. We partnered with the Morris Campus Farm (who showcased composting to students), the Students for Stewardship Club (bringing attention to recycling efforts and re-purposing some of our plastic waste), and with Lynchburg Daily Bread (who educated students about food waste and hunger in our city). At the event, student's wrote down their commitments to help in preventing food waste and to be more mindful of our very important planet!
Farmer's Market Springing Back Into Action April 14, 2016!
We had yet another very successful Liberty Farmer's Market for the 2015 season - which is why we are excited for it to come back in April! Every Thursday at Doc's parking lot, students, local residents, and vendors built a strong community of relationships and boosting the local economy!
At our market you can expect to find fresh produce, eggs, baked goods, local coffee and tea, delicious international fare, Mama Crockett's cider doughnuts, jewelry, accessories, home decor, natural soaps and lotions, kombucha, potted plants, gluten-free food, and other local growers and artisans!
Follow the Liberty Farmer's Market's Facebook page for more information and the latest updates!

Sodexo is passionate about helping to end childhood hunger in America. You can help us in our efforts by visiting www.sodexofoundation.org today!
As a global company, Sodexo has a responsibility to the communities in which they work to serve the less fortunate. The Sodexo management team recently laid down their cell phones, hopped out of their operations, and threw on aprons to prepare and serve lunch at Lynchburg Daily Bread. It was a wonderful experience, and the Daily Bread staff have invited the managers back any time.
Liberty Dining by Sodexo is proud to donate to Lynchburg Daily Bread, a local charity that serves a full lunch to those in need every day of the year. Rather than waste prepared food, Sodexo makes donations twice a week to Lynchburg Daily Bread, which operates entirely by the hands of volunteers.
The Sodexo team also had the privilege of returning as the lunch sponsor for United Way's Day of Caring. A delicious lunch was served to 1,200 volunteers at Hillcats Stadium that day!
The local Sodexo team cares deeply about Sodexo's corporate STOP HUNGER initiative, and is a new sponsor to the Lynchburg CROP Hunger Walk in April 2013.
